In Luke 4 Jesus announces that the Spirit of God is upon Him for the purpose of healing broken hearted people. The word broken means, “Crushed completely, smashed to pieces, bruised, or wounded.” So many times in life people get damaged by events or other people and as a result have a “hole in their soul” which needs medicated and repaired. The truth is though that drugs cannot fix a broken heart, alcohol cannot fix a broken heart, sex and pornography cannot fix a broken heart; but Jesus Christ is anointed to and has the power to heal each of us and the places we’ve been bruised that lead to addictive behavior.
